Hi I have a question about the above engine. I am building a boardtrack replica using my Ducati Cucciolo engine do i need to use the left & right Ducati pedals as i have made a side frame gear shifter. I am hoping to use a normal cycle crank set. Any help, thoughts, or comments would be appreciated.

On the Cucciolo, the chainwheel drives a gear on the engine and thence the drive goes to the rear wheel through the engine drive chain. If you fit a normal chainset you'll need a second chain and both chains will be on the same side of the wheel. You can't do that the obvious way (ie: two well-spaced sprockets on a free hub) as the pedal chain needs to freewheel independently of the engine chain - otherwise the engine will be driving the pedals round all the time. So, it's doable, but not straightforward. No problem with the left-hand crank, though.
