This doesn’t happen very often! A job lot purchase of 3 frames, 4 wheels, a complete engine, a stripped engine, etc etc most was in a very sad state but with some stripped parts all cleaned up. There was a New Hudson frame and wheels and rusty forks but no engine (2f) for this. Starting from the really cruddy engine that I un-stuck and have had running I realised it belonged in the almost complete Norman frame. All the shiny/stripped engine bits and other stuff right down to even the pedal ball bearings but no wheels would have been a JDL powered Sun. Now the interesting bit! The cruddy engine and complete frame had an Essex number plate attached. A query to Andrew Pattle at the EACC and he confirmed the engine/frame/reg number were all 1945. An email was sent to Essex archives that initially came back they held the ledger entry but the all-important frame number was not recorded, I could have a faxed copy for £5 but the person who does this is on leave. Now the very interesting bit! A very nice lady phones and say they have boxes of records that were saved from a skip by a Mr T and stored in his loft, when he died his son gave them to the archive department and they have my Norman details. Long story short: For £29 plus £2.50 p&p I have a certified copy of a document that should enable an original number registration, much better than £55 for an age related. Just got to get it all back together now.
