I wonder if anyone can help me to identify the Wrights Saddle, which was on my Phillips Gadabout P45, when I got it. It is made of White Rubber and is broken. The frame has a single centre spring and the rear part of the hoop of the frame is removable. The Rubber saddle cover measures 11 inches wide. Any clues will be gratefully received. Thanks, Rod Graham Phillips Gadabout P45 - 1961 - 774 CEW Velosolex 1010 - 1957 - 171 XVG Singer (St.Etienne) Etoile D'Or model "J" - 1953 - 260 XVN

I haven't found anything on the Wright's saddle, but came across this Lycett one: Interestingly, in 1957, Lycett claimed that theirs was 'the only British moped saddle of its type'. Wright was involved in the big TI/Raleigh merger of 1960 and became a cheaper version of Brooks, so it looks as if your saddle could only have been available for a couple of years at most.

Thanks so much, Gents. You've found it. Wrights / Lycett L100 Rubber envelope, Single spring moped saddle. I've done some searching and can't find any covers (or complete saddle) of this type. I did find Hitchcocks, who sell a leatherette Chinese knockoff, cover for the larger 15inch wide versions used on some motor bikes. I am going to post a "wanted" on this forum to see if anyone can help with one. Thanks so much. regards, Rod

It's a slightly different size - 10½" × 11½" rather than 11" × 11" - so you'd have to replace the whole saddle rather than fit a new BTG cover to your old frame.
