Hi all. Steve in Lancaster saying Hello to all. I got my first bike when I was 10, a D14/4 Bantam. From then 'til 1996 I always had bikes, or scooters, or both... April 1996 I had a Shaft drive lock up! Put me in a Coma with "Severe traumatic brain injuries". Family told I wouldn't see the night through. I did, and I'm still around. Stuck in Lancaster, Yorkshire lad, and have a lot of disability. I got bikes again in 2005, ended up with 8 at one point! Then gave up and got rid of it all. Now I want back into the fold, more sensibly this time. I'll be looking for something interesting that I could use as a daily, not fit to ride every day. Can't work any more so finances are tighter than a tight thing, on a particularly tight day! I have a Sachs powered(Hah!) Spartamet that's going to, hopefully, get a dating certificate, then a V5. I do want something more practical though. I WILL ask Stupid questions, you've been warned.

Sorry to hear you have a Spartamet hope you get well soon, not the best option for a return to biking in my humble opinion too many plastic bits in the carburettor that easily snap in my tinkering with them. However if you already have it I think the club would be able to do a dating certificate for registration purposes.
On the plus being only 30cc no NOVA will be required but being less that 40 years old (I think) it will require an MOT. Don't worry about asking stupid questions, we are here to help.

Cheers davwat. I picked the Spartamet up for a laugh, 3 or 4 years ago. Never planned to use it sensibly. I do know the site you linked, thanks. Not in any hurry to get it sorted though. I'm more interested in raising enough funds for something I actually like. I could cope with something in the 98cc region, there be hills round here! If it wasn't for the STUPID prices that C90 "Fishcakes" go for nowadays, I would grab one as a daily runner, try to get funding for something a bit more Special to me. In the early 70's I had quite a few Villiers motors and I loved them, mainly 2T and the like.

Just to add that, when I "Broke My Brane", back in 1996, I was borderline East Anglia. Sudbury in Suffolk. I have just managed to scrounge the funds for a slightly more sensible Moped. A 1979 Motobecane. Should be with me next week so I'll regale you with Photos then.
