Often misquoted as being a "Barn Find" they don't come more barn/shed find than this! A property has been built on land that belonged the gentleman's, wife's, grandparents there was several outbuildings that nobody had been in for years. Excellent service from Libraries, Registration & Archives | Kent County Council today but not the reply I wanted. " I can confirm we do hold original registration details for this vehicle (within volume reference: C/FL/1/6/67; Registration marks: GKO 1-999; Date: Aug 1939-May 1940). For the vehicle you require, the following information is given: the Registered Number, the Registration Date, the Registered Owner (surname and initials only), the Class, the Make and the Agent. Within this volume, the chassis number is not given for the vehicles.". Anyway the service was excellent replied in less than 2 hours and for £15 I could have a copy of the records if required, fill in a form and they would ring for a payment over the phone. I went for it! although it wont be good enough for DVLA I thought it would be good for historical interest as it was only about 4 miles away from Ashford where they were made.

As mentioned excellent service from Kent Archive and Local History a copy of the record received today. Unfortunately the all important frame number is not recorded (I was told it is not included), just for the historical interest GKO 189 was registered 29 Sep 1939, the first owner, Norman and the agent. I will contact the seller, see if any more info comes to light (but wont be holding my breath).
Every archive service should have a Hannah
On the back of the above I also contacted Doncaster regarding another bike " Doncaster Archives and Local Studies are in the midst of moving premises and not expected to reopen until September."

Thread update:
Nearly another one registered! Unfortunately no documentary evidence so had to go down the age related route. DVLA want to have it inspected to confirm their "record is correct". Bring it on, I've never had a problem post the inspection🤞

Woop Woop Not the ideal but with No documentary evidence relating to the frame number we have to go down the age related route. GKO 189 will now be known as SXS 771 for on road use. Thanks to DVLA and Andrew P of the EACC for the dating certificate.
