Hi Guys, I been riding and messing with motorbikes since the late sixties. A few months ago we visited my partners Brother who, because of the distance involved isn't very often. He knew I was into motorbikes and told me he had a motorbike in his shed that he had for many years that I could have if I wanted it. What make is it I said "Oh its a Vincent" he replied. I had visions of a Black Shadow or at the very least a Comet. "Its a Vincent Firefly" he said. "I've never heard of that model" I replied. So off we when to the shed at the bottom of his garden, and there it was, a fully intact Vincent Firefly on a old Raleigh bike. I wasn't that impressed at first, but after a bit of research I am converted. Its now in my own shed and I have become quite fond of it for some inexplicable reason. I haven't got it going as yet but giving it a sympathetic restoration as we speak. Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers Steve

They can shake screws loose so check regularly to avoid bits dropping off. Check the oil drain plug especially: one of the gears in there is aluminium and it has a very short life if there's no oil. The ignition wiring is weird.

Many thanks James I just acquired a Gundle tradesmans bicycle, my cunning plan is to attach the Vincent firefly to it.
