I use a semi-synthetic 2-stroke oil at 25:1 in my Villiers engines. This results in a slightly richer fuel/air mix than the 16:1 of the original specification, causing 4-stroking when lightly loaded, but they start easily and pull well when you need them to.

Where is the leak coming from? is it the inlet banjo, the bottom of the float bowl, or is it flooding. Setting the fuel level is a whole bundle of fun

HI,I think its flooding, easy to start when cold and rides ok,dies out sometimes and wont restart, have to leave it for around 15 to 20 mins and it will start Flooding is normally down to the float needle not shutting off completely, have you had the carb off and cleaned it? and checked that the float is actually pushing the needle up fully and has correct gap (ie level is correct)
Cutting out could be carb again the jet/centre piece can be problematic needs a good clean.
or cutting out and restarting after cooling down is common on a lot of mopeds when the condenser or coil is faulty.
BTW Welcome to my world lol

The way it dies out can be telling: if it just cuts out suddenly, it's likely to be ignition trouble; if it loses power first, or coughs & splutters a bit, fuel is more likely to be the cause.

Definitely seems to splutter a bit before dying out then have to leave if for 15 to 20 mins until it will start again

No surprise you are having issues, I wont even try starting a bike now unless I take the carb off and clean it out and use fresh fuel.
Have a go and don't hesitate to ask questions.
