Superfast dating certificate service for last weekends Stafford Garelli. Need to send a copy to the vendor now who imported it and has paid the 5% VAT. He will NOVA it, then it's off to DVLA. Fingers crossed WTS.

Fingers crossed WTS. Reminded the vendor Friday that still waiting on NOVA clearance, he said 3 done and hadn't heard back on any.
He contacted me today, HMRC saying the dating certificate unreadable must be something to do with how he sent the scan to small, unreadable when blown up
Sent photo's and re-sent scans today. WTS

must be something to do with how he sent the scan to small, unreadable when blown up Probably sent from a 'phone. 'Smart' phones have a horrible habit of sending thumbnail pictures instead of what you want them to send.

Sounds about right, he was asking me to send pictures as a message on my phone, my phone wasn't having any of that and wouldn't even send. I did email them to him, will speak to him tomorrow.

Just contacted my man again, he has been in contact with HMRC and although they have an information centre it just deals with general enquires and not specific cases.
Said they would ring him back if any further problems. Now where have I heard that B4. Watch this space.

Received the NOVA clearance letter today from my vendor for the bike I bought at Stafford way back on July 5th. He had paid the duty, 5% I think it is on stuff imported these post Brexit days. HMRC then required confirmation as to the date of manufacture which was supplied in the form of a dating certificate, presumably this would not be required if there was a foreign registration document. HMRC letter states "Imported Vehicle Post Clearance Checks satisfied"
That'll do, now to deal with Swansea, good job I'm not waiting to use it.

Sod the expense, 2 x separate applications sent off. (I have done 3 in 1 envelope before and got 3 consecutive registration numbers). Sent separately just in case there is a query with one / they get separated or something goes wrong and they both get lost. Fingers crossed, Watch this space.

In best Victor Meldrew voice "I don't believe it"
Letter received today that my Garelli application has been approved and the allocated number is LGT817N. WTF is going on it's 1957 and a vehicle check says Tax due 1st September they are normally taxed.

Ring back Monday! I did manage to get a case number from her. WTS. You've got to love'em !
Eventually after going through all the options and speaking to a "don't do" I got another nice lady "support team" tells me that the nice lady Saturday should of not said phone back Monday as these things can't be done over the phone (as expected) and take up to 6 weeks.
She will escalate it and asked for an email address, would it be OK to contact me on that if need be. Thank goodness for the case number I say. Watch This Space.

UPDATE Just as I was thinking after one calender month when the nice lady said these things take 6 weeks but she would escalate it (as she could see it was their mistake). I was thinking it had gone on the Down escalator. Surprise surprise: A message left on my phone this morning by a nice lady "I can see there is a mistake on the recently issued V5C and a replacement will be sent.

It’s when I read these stories that I decide I just can’t be a***d to try and register my solex. It’s not worth the effort.

So, do you ride the Solex on the road, untaxed and uninsured?

Little bit more work for a dating certificate (easy peasy for most) before dealing with DVLA for an age related number.
Again easy peasy if NOVA (Notice Of Vehicle Arrival) has already been done with HMRC or it's below 49cc when it's not required.
Bit more work if you have to jump through hoops with HMRC and then deal with DVLA.
Most do go through with No problems you just have to be patient some times. It's what we do.
