Have just acquired a 1960 38B at the Stafford Show came with it's original "Certificato per Ciclomotore". Don't have the bike home yet, hope to collect at the VMCC event at Stamford Hall on the 18 July. More info. and photos then.

I had bought the one in front earlier and shouted "buy it" as you were walking away (under your umbrella), after a conversation you went back

Yes, that's the one. However I rather stupidly lost his business card, so if you have his contact details that would be more than helpful, thanks

Have yet to discover a frame number, or manufacture of the bicycle, maybe someone can make out the name. Looks like MALASMYI, but I could be wrong. In the thumbnail picture, it looked like Malaguti, but less so in the larger picture.

Yes, Malaguti it is. Having cleaned the head-stock and it's very faded transfer it was just possible to make out the name. Thank you. John

OK I now know what make the bicycle is but so far finding the frame number has alluded me. The number in the "Certifcato" that came withe machine is 141468/1BO. could be 1130 hand writing not easy to read.

Have taken the bike out into the sunshine looking for numbers and found these:- Engine 707327 also on the engine L573 (casting or part number possibly). There is a "tax disk" or at least the Italian version of one on the handlebars which tells me it was on the road in 1963. Given DVLS's obsession with frame numbers I will still need to find it, anyone know where to look? I could of course stamp one of my own, but which one? Number in the "Certificato" or the "tax disk" all of them are different.

Engine number is 707327 as in the book and if you take the tax disc out you will most probably find that number below the 1963 (it was on mine). Sorry cant help with frame number, maybe it doesn't have one (yet) as in this country early cyclemotors were registered with the engine number.

Did as you say, took the "tax disc" out and found the engine number there. Turned the bike upside down just in case there was a number on the underside of the bottom bracket, no luck though.

It will be 1BO - the BO stands for Bologna. 141468/1BO is the Italian registration number; even though they didn't have a registration plate, they were still given a number.
