Bit Déjà Vu this one, a recent purchase and the Make is Comet J11 this time Thinking this should be amended to James hopefully Swansea will agree. A cover letter, copies of the V5C and the dating certificate asking for a new document will be sent. Watch this space.

I almost gave up on this from May and was thinking I would have to send in again. A vehicle check tonight and it now says
Now there's a thing, Something consistent at the DVLA is the inconsistency.
The previous one I done like this they said it would just be know as JAMES something I agreed too. This time they are calling it a JAMES COMET J11

There's a thing with DVLA's system and old vehicles. Modern vehicles have makes and models retrieved from a database, but the old ones aren't listed and have to be entered manually. The DVLA system merges the Model into the Make on these manual inputs, so your James now has JAMES COMET J11 as its Make, but no Model recorded. This means that statistical information derived from DVLA goes wrong: f'rinstance if you wanted to know how many Jameses were in the system, your bike wouldn't be included in the count. The FBHVC recommended that historic vehicle owners just register vehicles with the Make and leave the Model field blank ... but this can go wrong too when a manufacturer had different models that had the same frame number and the Model has to be recorded to distinguish between them.

Watch this space. Although the vehicle check came up showing JAMES COMET J11 and date of latest V5C 11 August 2021, it hasn't arrived yet. I will update when it does.
BTW it's a horrible re-reg of nnnUYY that it will have to live with, obviously not worth anything as transferable but would be good to have the option to buy a nicer number for it.
