Hello I’ve recently bought a 1976 Batavus go go to restore I’m unsure when I come to start the bike I pedal the bike pull the start lever in a the engine locks up can any body help please

You will have a decompressor on the other side to pull in until you get the engine turning freely on the pedals then let it out and you should fire up.

I don't think the Batavus has a decompressor - it has a start lever and a choke; the start lever engages the clutch. Assuming the engine's not seized, then maybe the belt is not tight enough and is slipping when the engine hits compression?

I wasn't sure so was waiting to get mine out. Initial thought was if the engine is Laura Anker basically like in the Ariel 3 that has a decompressor ! Looking at a picture of my Go Go it hasn't got a decompressor. Hold the lever under the left handle bar up, pedal on stand or ride away, release lever, engine should turn and go go.
