According to the literature, my Power Pak should run on 16:1. This seems an awful lot of oil. I think that with the advances in oils it should be less. Anyone any ideas on that? I imagine it's a pretty forgiving little thing but I have read somewhere that too much oil in the mixture can cause damage.

Villiers engines are the same, and 25:1 is plenty. With Villiers, reducing the oil increases the tendency to 4-stroke because: 1) there's more petrol in the mix, and 2) the fuel flows more freely. I don't know how sensitive the Power Pak is to this, but you may have to drop the needle by a notch.
