Super quick dating cert from Andrew (as normal) 47cc therefore NOVA not required, posted application to DVLA on 5th March, letter received yesterday after 4 1/2 weeks (not bad considering Covid). Damn they want an inspection done by SGS, phoned them and they are supposed to get back within 5 days with an appointment. Watch this space! Bonus could be that everything is in order and a document normally appears promptly after the inspection.

Random verification by an independent company introduced by DVLA after closing all the local offices. They don't fly somebody over from head office in Switzerland, it's normally contracted out to a local agent.

OK, who pays for the inspection then ? We don't which is a bonus, and they come to your home (in the old days before I registered anything) you had to transport the vehicle to them.

I used to take mine to Thornaby, near Stockton for DVLA inspections, a young girl used to come out and look at whatever I had with me, ask a couple of not very relevant questions then shot off back to her office, the good old days..

Damn they want an inspection done by SGS
This could be:
A: because Covid restrictions are being lifted and they're doing in because they can, or
B: it's April, a new financial year, and there's some more money in the inspection budget.

Has the inspection been done yet ? Quick answer No. I phoned SGS on the day the letter arrived 6th, they say get back with an appointment within 5 days, that hasn't happened yet, looks like I will have to ring them again. Watch this space.

Well that was painless, phone call 1/2 before arriving, good look over and pictures taken. Inspector was happy, few pictures taken, little chat and he's gone again. Probably last to be done by SGS as another company taking over.
Normally a good sign that everything is OK and the inspection being the last hurdle V5C normally follows shortly (strikes permitting). Watch this space.

Just over 2 months with Covid, strikes and an inspection pleased to say the little Binetta is now registered.
Presumably it was sorted last week and the computer sent the V5C the letter explaining all will come later.
