DVLA historic tax now sorted & I got my Autobyk insured last week so I took it out for its first "official" spin. Just a 3 mile loop to see how it goes and it put a big smile on my face . Max speed of 31 mph (probably on the slight downhill). On my return I noticed a couple of loose bolts which I think where ok beforehand, may have even lost a nut but can't be sure it was there in the first place. So I'm expecting to have to tinker with it regularly on long journeys and was wondering what tools would be recommended? Are punctures fixable at the roadside? would I need heavy duty tyre levers? or maybe just the RAC card!

A mobile phone is the essential one! Things may come loose after the first few runs, but once you've tightened them up again, that problem should end. There's no point in taking a load of tools unless you're going to carry spares too. Plug spanner and spare plug should be top of the list. Then whatever you need to deal with a blocked jet in the carb. Maybe some 'get you home' tyre sealant, though chances are you'll never need it. Don't take too much; you can never 'slim down' a tool kit because the day you stop taking something is the day you'll need it!

Not sure where to put this.....I have just unearthed a couple of tools, one clearly states New Hudson and the other has nothing on it, they were with some New Hudson literature I had and I presume they were once connected with the one I had. Can ayone identify them ? ta

They're more likely to be bicycle than autocycle (the NH autocycle parts list shows the tools for the autocycle). One's a combined cone spanner and tyre lever; the other fits most nuts on a bicycle ... or it would if it wasn't broken.

Wont you need a cone spanner for the autocycle wheels? And if you are worried about punctures maybe put the green puncture sealant in both tyres
